The area is one of spectacular landscapes very different to the well known safari areas of Botswana and consists of the Tuli Safari Area and Mashatu Private Game Reserve. Getting to Tuli by airThere is a private airstrip in the Tuli conservation area but no scheduled flights into Tuli are available. Charter flights from within Botswana and from South Africa and Zimbabwe land at the airfield. There is a customs and immigration post at the airstrip to process passengers from neighbouring countries on arrival. Getting to Tuli by road

From South Africa: 500 km from Johannesburg
From Johannesburg on the N1 to Polokwane then the R521 to Alldays before turning off to Pont Drift where cars can be left and you will be picked up by the relevant lodge staff.
Please note that when the Limpopo River is flowing the river must be crossed by cable car and no vehicle can cross here. For those driving on it is important to check on the status of the Limpopo River before departure.
From Gaborone 500 km
Travelling from Gaborone to Pont Drift – via Palapye, Mogapi, Bobonong and Motlhabaneng – the road is mostly tarred with a section of dirt road of about 45 km

The closest border facilities for those arriving by road from South Africa are at Pont Drift, opening hours 08.00-16.00. It must be taken into account that these times are strictly enforced and late comers will not be allowed through. |
